Inauguration ceremony for a collection of Iranian Kamancheh virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor has been held in Tehran.

The ceremony was held in Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center in the presence of some cultural figures and the fans of maestro Kayhan Kalhor.

Kayhan Kalhor (born 24 November, 1963 in Kermanshah, Iran) is an Iranian Kamanchehplayer, composer and master of classical Kurdish and Iranian traditional music.

Kamancheh (Persian word for ‘little bow') is a bowed string instrument which resembles a violin in that it is played by drawing a bow across the strings.

The instrument was added to the UNESCO list for Iran’s intangible cultural heritage in the 12th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, in South Korea.

It is used in rural and urban Iran in many celebrations and is also played in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and several other countries.
